10 years ago, 2014 — Although the sale was years down the road, Custer residents who lived near 112 acres of Forest Service land known as the “Deer Valley Adminstration Site” showed up in force at the Jan. 6 meeting of the Custer City Council, concerned about how the sale of the land could affect them. The land, which was made up of four separate parcels, was located behind the Rock Crest, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express and the Super 8 motels on the old city limits line and ran north to the south line of Buckhorn Estates or the south line of the U.S.
