— During a press conference, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem said schools would be closed for the remainder of the academic year. Work would continue much the way it had through online learning. With the cancelation of school came the cancelation of all school-related activities. After Gov. Noem said students would not return to school for the remainder of the academic year, the South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) announced that all remaining events had been canceled, as had postponed events from the winter.
