Jenny’s Floral to sell

Jenny Behlings has an exit plan. And, while she is exiting Jenny’s Floral in the not-too-distant future, she’s not abandoning her “35-year-old baby. Rather, Behlings plans to move to the “next level” of the florist world, while fading more into the background at the building that boasts her name.
“I’m not going to get out of the business, it’s just going to change,” Behlings said. “(Her husband) Tim is retiring in June, and it would be nice to be a little more fluid and just be able to go if we want to go.”

10 Years ago, 2011 — The Custer School District Board of Education was updated on progress for the Common Core standards, a new education model in math and English...Over 180 children attended Christmas for Kids at the Custer Showbarn. Those in attendance were treated to an appearance by Fred and Barney of Flintstones Bedrock Village, magic shows by magician Duane Laflin and of course, a visit with Mr. and Mrs.

Tuesday, Nov. 30
2:47 p.m.: A deputy gave advice to someone involved in a civil problem at a trailer park on Needles View Place.
Wednesday, Dec. 1
12:57 a.m.: Fussin’ and hollerin’ was reported at a house on Custer’s Homestead Drive. No one there was hurt and deputies separated the two people.
5:03 a.m.: The pair from the previous call was at it again on Homestead Drive. Deputies calmed everything down…again.
6:59 a.m.: The usual cow was out in the usual place on Hwy. 16/385 near Avenue of the Chiefs. A deputy got it back where it belonged.

Alexander family boosts foundation

Just six weeks after the initial challenge contributions were given to get the Hill City Area Community Foundation on its feet, the first goal of $200,000 has been met. These “challenge” contributions were met with generous donations by many in the community.

Fund started to help Dr. Sharon

Sharon Seneczko, owner of Southern Hills Animal Clinic, has earned a reputation for compassionate care for her patients as well as their humans during her 22 years as a veterinarian in Custer. Now it is the animal doctor who needs help.
Dr. Sharon, as she affectionately is known in the community, contracted COVID-19 in late October. After spending more than two weeks in the hospital she has been diagnosed with bronchiectasis, an obstructive lung disease. Currently working toward recovery but still unable to return to work she faces mounting medical bills.
