Sherlee Renteria

Sherlee K. Renteria died and went to heaven Oct. 24, 2026.  Sherlee was born in Holdrege, Neb., May 6, 1946, to Billy and Minnie Arlene Woodruff.
Her beloved grandparents, Jess and Cecile Norman, raised her.  When she was 8 years old, the family moved to Alliance, Neb., where they farmed 12 miles west of Alliance.  It was her great-grandpa, Fred Lohmeyer’s farm.
She met and married Jesse Renteria, Jan. 30, 1961.  She graduated from American School courses in Chicago, Ill.  Four children were born to them—Rick Renteria of Keystone, S.D., Lisa Gennaro of Keystone, twins, Jesse Renteria JR of Papillion, Neb., and Julie Penney of Rapid City, S.D.
Her life took a 180 degree angle when she was 17.  She was married by then when two missionaries came knocking at her door. They told her about salvation in Jesus.  She gave her heart to Jesus that day.  It was the happiest day of her life, and it changed her life forever.  She was devoted to her family and Jesus.
At 38 years old, she went in to the real estate business in Allianc. She worked at Podhaisky Real Estate for nine years.  After her broker got ill, she became a broker and named her company “No Place Like Home.”  She had it for 11 years and God blessed her business.
After retirement, she and her husband moved to Hill City, S.D., on an acreage that God had planned for them.  Three of her four children moved closer to home.  She had eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, at the Little White Church in Hill City.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer, S.D.
