Custer High School began their regional campaign this week after a winning match last Tuesday versus Lead-Deadwood, 3-1.
The Wildcat team played its way to a 25-12 win in the first set, but then their start was cooled off as the Golddiggers took the next set 25-23.
Yet, Custer’s whole roster helped out the next two sets to bring a match win to their home court. The Wildcats took the third set, 25-14 and the fourth set 25-15.
Both Ally Cass (10 kills) and JoJo Larsen (six kills) contributed to making these last two sets no contest.
Bailey Cass also helped widen the point gap with four digs, one solo block and two block assists.
Kylee Pulscher lead Custer’s team with 10 setting assists.
JoJo Larsen tacked on nine digs for the Wildcats this game and Kylee Ellerton had five digs.
Custer offers a mix of experience and youth as evidenced in both senior Ally Cass and freshman Ellerton serving five aces in this winning game versus Lead-Deadwood.
What’s up next for the Wildcats depends upon how they play in their regional matchup.
Head coach Jill Hohn said, “This Lead-Deadwood game went well. We are optimistic for our regional games.”
