Thelma Petersen

Thelma J. Petersen was born in Corvallis, Ore., to Earl and Bessie James April 10, 1926.
She went to school in Oral, S.D., and graduated from Hot Springs  (S.D.) High School in 1944. She married Lyle Peterson Aug. 2, 1947. She worked for Northwestern Bell for many years.  
Thelma was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and camping with the family.
Thelma, of Rapid City, S.D., passed away Oct. 26, 2024. She was 98.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; and son, Russell.
Thelma is survived by four children, Helen Smith of Omaha, Neb., Lucy (Larry) Williamson of Hill City, S.D., Richard Petersen of Rapid City, and Arlene Payne of Box Elder, S.D. nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home in Rapid City.
Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.
