The Hill City High School Ranger boys basketball team kicked off its week with an away game against the Belle Fourche Broncs Jan. 17.
According to coach Laramie Harvey, “It was a tale of two halves. We were able to build a 21-point lead at halftime. The second half Belle Fourche was able to come back and take a one-point lead. Our boys responded, and we were able to re-take the lead and hold on to win 50-44.”
After that, the Ranger boys traveled to the Custer Armory for a game against the Wildcats Jan. 20.
“Our boys played with heart and a lot of energy,” said Harvey. “The atmosphere in the gym was everything a player could want. It was back and forth all game, but Custer was able to pull out a one-point victory.”
The game ended 66-65 in the Wildcats’ favor.
This week the Ranger boys had a home game against the Sturgis Brown Scoopers Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Next, the Rangers will be traveling to Wall High School for a game against the Eagles Thursday, Jan. 26. The varsity game will begin at 7 p.m.
The Ranger boys will then wrap up the week with a game against the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds at Irene-Wakonda High School Saturday, Jan. 28. The varsity game will begin at 6 p.m.
Harvey said the team is excited about these three games against quality opponents.
The Ranger boys will be back in action for a home game against the Kadoka Area Kougars Monday, Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m.
