Jo Murner
Jo Murner was born in Mott, N.D., Sept. 14, 1930, to Gale and Cora (Olien) Rounds. She and the family moved to Rapid City, S.D., where Jo graduated from Rapid City High School.
On Oct. 23, 1948, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Murner in Rapid City. To this union four children were born—William, David, Lorri and Kimmie. Bill preceded her in death March 18, 2016.
Jo and Bill owned a GM dealership in Custer, S.D., where Jo helped by keeping the books. The couple traveled to Hawaii and all over the United States. They would winter in either Texas or Arizona. In February of 2018 Jo moved to Indianola, Neb., to be close to family.
Jo was an avid bird watcher and loved feeding them. She enjoyed the casinos, crocheting, making quilts and Christmas stocking. In her younger years she and Bill would go to square dances. She loved being around family and friends.
Jo passed away at the Community Hospital of McCook, Neb., April 2, 2024. She was 93.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Gale and Cora; and a brother, Gerald Rounds.
Jo is survived by her two sons, William (Patricia) of Custer, and David (Colette) of Rapid City; two daughters, Lorri (Ernie) Schleuning of Rapid City, and Kimmie (Brent) May of Indianola; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen by the family with a private inurnment later in South Dakota.
