Howard Munsell

Howard Lee Munsell, was born June 15, 1936, in Bennett, Colo., to Teddy and Dorothy (Lamb) Munsell.  
Howard attended school until 10th grade then ventured into the working world until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955.  Howard was honorably discharged in 1957.  
Howard married Cleo Stickley in 1955, and to their union two daughters were born, Susan and Joy.  Howard later adopted his son, Wayne.
After working as a cashier and propane delivery driver, Howard went into business for himself, building a propane route and an auction business.  He later attended Western College of Auctioneering.  
In 1970 he built a stock trailer business and for many years was the largest trailer dealer in the United States. In 1980 he purchased a ranch in the Black Hills of South Dakota, sold his trailer business and purchased more property in the Black Hills. Howard enjoyed traveling, rodeos, playing poker and collecting over 50 vintage cars.
Howard, of Custer, S.D., died May 9, 2021, at his residence in Custer. He was 84.
He is survived by his children and his grandchildren.
Funeral Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.    Committal services will follow at Custer Cemetery, with full military honors presented.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.
