What grade/subject do you teach? 

Middle School Math

 

 

Where did you grow up and where did you go to college? 

I grew up in Sundance, Wyo., and went to college at Black Hills State University.

 

 

 

How long have you been a teacher? 

This is my 21st year of teaching.

 

 

Why did you become a teacher? 

I always wanted to be a teacher but just wasn’t sure what I wanted to teach until I had two great math teachers in junior high and high school (Tim Hoard and Bernie Schnorenberg).  They made math fun, understandable for all students and that is what I am hoping to do for my students.

 

 

What do you love about teaching?

The aha moments, when students finally understand a concept they have been struggling with! 

I also like the small school because you get to know all your kids and their families.

 

 

Would you like to share any personal info?

I have one son Garrett who is a junior at Hill City High School.   

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading books, traveling and spending time outdoors.   

The one thing I enjoy the most during the summer months is spending time at the ballfield watching my son play baseball for Post 22.
