Edmund Cooley

Edmund Langley Cooley proudly served his country in the Marine Corps, Golf Company 2nd Battalion 7th Marine 1st Marine Division, 3rd Platoon 3rd Squad during the Vietnam War and received many honors, including a Purple Heart.
He was a carpenter and a farrier. His hobbies included scuba diving, taking care of his horses and loving his children. He is a former resident of Custer, S.D.
Ed, of Cleveland, Tenn., died July 26, 2020. He was 69.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Schunk.
Ed is survived by his wife of seven years, Patience Cooley of Cleveland; sons, Eddie Cooley, Christopher Cooley and Joshua Cooley; brother, John Cooley; sisters, Joan Roberson, Catherine (Bob) Powell and Mary Ellen (Jim) Bateski; brother-in-law, Charlie Schunk; and several cousins.
A graveside service was held Sept. 3 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla., with miliary honors provided by U.S. Marines and Sumter County Honor Guard.
