Doreen Cole

Doreen Kay Cole, 64, of Hill City, S.D., passed away Oct. 10, 2024, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born Oct. 19, 1959, in Madison, S.D., to Vance and Dorthy (Sullivan) Cole.
Her family moved to Hill City in 1960, where she grew up, attended school and raised her family. Doreen worked at various cafes over the years as a waitress. She was a familiar face to many, and enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hiking and rock collecting.
Survivors include two sons, Shaun Cole and Cody Straw, both of Hill City; one daughter, Carrie Straw, and one granddaughter, Lyra Straw, both of Box Elder; three brothers, twin Dorn of Hermosa, S.D., and Dick and Danny both of Columbus, Neb.; and one sister, Deanna Kennedy of Columbia Falls, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vance and Dorthy; three brothers, Dalton, Doug and Dennis; and one sister, Donna Chute.
