Cutler brings home two medals

Hill City freshman Abby Cutler brought home a pair of medals—including a silver in the 3200—from the South Dakota Class A State Track Meet last weekend in Spearfish.
Cutler’s second place finish in the 3200 came in at a time of 11:42.19, while she was also sixth in the 1600 at a time of 5:24.07.
As a team, the Rangers finished in 16th place with 17 team points. West Central won the team championship with 66 points, followed by Custer with 53 points and Hamlin at 40 points.
The Rangers had three relay teams place at the meet, led by the 1600 team of Kadyn Comer, Sydney Wathen, Macey Wathen and Nancy Falkenburg Brown, placing second in a time of 4:10.50. Sydney Wathen, Macey Wathen and Comer combined with Hailey Wathen to bring home a sixth-place finish in the 400 relay at a time of 51.72. The 800 team of Sydney Wathen, Macey Wathen, Comer and Abby Siemonsma finished seventh at a time of 1:48.65, while the medley relay team of Comer, Macey Wathen, Sydney Wathen and Cutler was eighth at 4:27.74.
On the boys side, Jaxon Johnson had a strong meet for the Rangers, as he placed in both hurdle events. Johnson finished fifth in the 300 hurdles at a time of 40.96, while finishing sixth in the 110 hurdles at a time of 15.68.
Willie Walther was the other Ranger to place at the meet, as he finished in fourth place in the 400 at a time of 51.58.
The Ranger boys finished with 12 team points, which was good for 17th place at the meet. Sioux Falls Christian dominated the meet, piling up 113.66 points, nearly 50 points better than second-place Milbank, which finished with 66 points. Custer finished in third place with 53 points.
