Chester Fassett

Chester A. Fassett was born April 11, 1930, in Hot Springs, S.D., and raised in Custer, S.D., son of the late Cecil Fassett and Violet Doughty.  
He enlisted in the Air Force in 1948 and retired after 35 years of service as a pilot and as the deputy wing commander for maintenance.  His last assignment was at Altus AFB, Oklahoma.
Chet was a Vietnam veteran and received numerous awards including (Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and two Meritorious Service Medals).  In 1983, he began his second career and retired at DynCorp in Fort Worth, Texas.
Chet and and wife Marilyn Davis Fassett had been happily married for over 18 years. He spent his time in retirement enjoying his grandchildren, served as an active member of the Pleasantview Baptist Church and actively served in the Crisis Responders Ministries. He was a life member of the Air Force Association and Order of Daedalians.
Chet died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021. He was 90.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Fassett; mother,  Violet Doughty; first wife, Dorothy Gordon Fassett; and a son, David Fassett.  
Chet is survived by his wife, Marilyn Davis Fassett; son, Gary Fassett of San Antonio, Texas; daughters, Linda Zinck of San Antonio and Laura Sagar of Tampa Fla.; son, Don Fassett of McMinnville, Ore; 10  grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life was in Greenwood Chapel in Fort Worth, Texas. Interment with military honors followed at Greenwood Memorial Park.
