Calling for unity needs leadership
If Joe Biden is now interested in “bringing America together and uniting our people” as he so eloquently stated in his inauguration speech last Wednesday, he had better call off the dogs. President Trump has been out of office a week, but the Democrats, and some Republican RINOS still are passionate about pursuing his second impeachment, this time for allegedly inciting a riot at the Capitol. After a rally at the mall, some Trump supporters found their way to the Capitol. Following the unlawful entry of the building Jan. 6 and the damage that ensued, not to mention the lives lost, we have seen an unprecedented attack on almost 75 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump. All of a sudden “white supremacists” are seen as domestic terrorists by the Democrats.
Shame on the Democrats for demonizing people of the caucausian race. Isn’t that a bit racist and what they have always called Republican opponents when they can’t think of anything else. Is it not immoral to judge people based on their race? It’s not a very good start to lump 75 million people into the same boat as a few hundred “insurgents” who entered the Capitol unlawfully. One of the leaders of the “insurgents” has been identified as anarchist John Sullivan of Utah who was arrested by the FBI for agitating the crowd. He can be heard saying expletives and incendiary language.
Rioters who burned and looted stores in major cities this summer were Antifa and Black Lives Matter members who were never confronted by Democrat mayors and governors of those cities and states. In fact, the governors failed to call in their state National Guard units to help quell these riots in spite of pleas by the president to do so. Now they are doing it again!
Democrats suddenly found a new appreciation for some 26,000 uniformed military members who helped secure the inauguration ceremonies at the Capitol, surrounded by a high fence topped with sharp concertina wire. It reminded us of a military base camp in hostile territory, or a successful military junta takeover in a foreign country. Of course, this was done because of “reliable” intelligence reports of some kind of disruption of the event, which never occurred. Unity in this country is not possible without respecting the reasonable views of others, no matter how much you may disagree with them. We certainly have our share of disagreements right now, from securing the southern border to continuing with energy independence and low energy costs or going back to Obama policies, which seems to be the case.
In his very first few days in office, Biden has managed to sign 17 executive orders which go directly against the will of nearly 75 million Trump supporters. Not securing our southern border at a time our country is still in the midst of a pandemic seems like a really bad idea. Killing the Keystone XL oil pipeline and its 11,000 high-paying union jobs also goes against our goal of continued energy independence.
We are experiencing unprecedented censorship of conservative thought in our country right now, thanks to liberal-controlled media outlets from Facebook to Twitter to print and broadcast. It seems these folks have a new-found boldness in calling out and beating down any thoughts or opinions other than their own. They seem to forget there are over 74 million Trump supporters who don’t agree with anything Democrats are doing now.
Another sham impeachment ceremony by the Democrat leadership will go nowhere, just like the first one based on the whistleblower Eric Ciaramella who didn’t like something Trump said in a phone call to the Ukranian president about investigating the Bidens for their foreign involvements in that country. Now the former president is accused of inciting the Jan. 6 rioting at the nation’s Capitol when he clearly did not. This will be another colossal waste of time and money and will go nowhere.
It will only pour salt into the wounds this country is currently experiencing after a highly contested election and is designed to further embarrass Trump and prevent him from ever running for office again. Lord knows why he would ever again want to subject himself to constant political attacks, no matter what he did. If Trump is no longer president, how can he be impeached? Impeachment is only to remove a sitting president from office.
Biden’s words about national unity certainly ring hollow. He needs to show some leadership and put his words into action.
