Biden fiddles while border in chaos

If there ever was a modern-day version of Nero fiddling while Rome burned, it would be President Biden seemingly paying no attention to the massive mess his administration has made at our Southern border. One of his many executive orders after taking office a few short months ago was to lift security at the Southern border and stop construction on the wall that former President Trump was trying to get built with no help from Democrats.
Biden has managed to create this border chaos in record time, even though his Homeland Security secretary has claimed there is no crisis at our Southern border. The dishonest liberal media continues to cover for all of this, which is reminiscent of their chorus of “manufactured crisis” theme when Trump first attacked the problem in his administration. It was, in fact, a crisis at the time and Trump tackled it head-on. It was not “manufactured.”
Up to a short time ago we have had a relatively secure Southern border. Sen. Lindsey Graham pointed out a number of reasons for the current chaotic border situation. He said the Biden administration reversed the “Remain in Mexico” policy which required non-Mexican asylum seekers to be returned to Mexico for the duration of their immigration proceedings.
Biden also removed procedures in place to expel migrants because of COVID concerns. This resulted in over 100 of them being admitted to this country in spite of being tested positive for the virus. We have no idea how many illegals are spreading the disease all over the country.
Graham said the administration has also put a moratorium on deportations and stopped construction of the border wall, setting the stage for a return to the lawlessness and chaos our country experienced at the border in 2018 and 2019. To make matters worse, unaccompanied migrant children are being shepherded across the border by “coyotes” and other human traffickers who make a living smuggling migrants and drugs across the border.
Make no mistake, in spite of what Speaker Pelosi says, Biden and the Democrats own this border mess because they did away with the policies put in place by the previous administration. This was just one of many mistakes they made in replacing or reversing everything Trump did, in spite of the fact that these policies were working and the border was relatively secure.
The situation has become a full-blown humanitarian crisis so bad that FEMA has been requested to step in and assist with dealing with the hundreds of unaccompanied minors overwhelming border authorities. Texas Gov. Greg Abott has requested help in securing that state’s Southern border with National Guard troops, in light of the federal government failing to do its job of border security.
If lack of effective border security doesn’t concern you, it should. There is no other country in the world that would put up with this nonsense. Other countries cannot afford to take in a large number of people who just walk across their borders and seek asylum and benefits right off the bat. Neither can we.
It’s time for somebody to wake up the president and strongly suggest that his new approach to open-border immigration is creating a huge mess at our Southern border. And while they are at it, they could also suggest that he hold his first question-and-answer press conference with the media. We can’t wait for that to happen.
