Barbara Everett

Barbara “Paddy” Everett was born July 2, 1944, in Rapid City, S.D., to Walter and Mecia (Butler) Clifford.
Paddy graduated from Custer (S.D.) High School, in 1962. She worked as a nurse aid and restorative aid for 26 years in long term care facilities, retiring in 2006. She loved her career and touched the lives of many residents and co-workers. She lived in Custer most of her life and loved the history and beauty of the Black Hills.
Paddy was a beloved mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Crossroads Church in Custer. She enjoyed church services and Bible study and had a deep connection to the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  
Paddy loved the outdoors, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, boating and camping. She got a kick out of playing practical jokes and always had a new one up her sleeve. She also was a great card player and always had a deck of cards and cribbage board ready.
She loved holidays, and Christmas was her favorite time of year. She would decorate to the nines with garland streaming on every wall, the tree lit and ornate with perfection. She was an amazing cook and baker and never let her friends or family go hungry!
Paddy adored her pets and had many she cared for across her lifetime. She had a hilarious way of speaking for her pets. She never ran out of stories about the great Black Hills or her younger years growing up in the country.
Paddy passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at Rapid City (S.D.) Monument Health Hospital. She was 77.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Everett Clifford; mother, Mecia Clifford; and father, Walter Clifford.
Paddy leaves behind two  children, Clifford (Nikki) Rainbolt of Aurora, Colo., and Trinity (Brian) Gary of St. Ives, Cambridgeshire England; grandchildren, Dillinger and Collette Gary and Raidar Klinkhammer;  Paddy loved her family and had many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life was held at Crossroads Church in Custer Feb. 26.
