A pair of neighboring business owners are the latest downtown business owners to come before the Custer City Council to appeal fines they said they were unfairly levied for what the city says is failing to properly clean off their storefront sidewalks following an April snowfall.
Both Gary Carr of A Dude’s Place and Mike Dewsbury of Denial were both present at the May 16 meeting of the council, both saying the city shouldn’t be so heavy-handed with its abatement process, and Carr saying the ordinance that demands the snow removal is applied unequally.
