Zonta Fest Saturday
Zonta Fest, a celebration of women’s music, art and dance will be at the Custer Beacon 4-9 p.m. Saturday, June 8.
Kim Nelson, president of the hosting group, Zonta Club of the Southern Black Hills, said, “The ZONTA motto is: ‘Build a Better World for Women and Girls.’
“This year we are putting more emphasis on fundraising at Zonta Fest in hopes of doing more to fulfill this mission. All of the proceeds raised become service dollars. These dollars are used to help make the world a better and safer place for women and girls right here in our Southern Black Hills communities. Please join us for a fun evening and help us make a positive impact on even more lives.”
A silent auction, raffles of gift cards, donated items and baskets from local businesses and individuals, and a 50/50 raffle are the fundraising components of this year’s Zonta Fest.
Musicians and dancers’ performance schedule includes Música Romántica de México at 4:15 p.m., Sultry Shimmy, a belly dance troupe at 6 p.m and Gumbo Lilies at 8 p.m. as well as some other musicians.
Artists include Deborah Shannon’s unique mandala art, Kayla Andrews’ Little Bat Designs including whimsical paintings of local sites, Jamie DeNoma with her creations of the unexpected and Kim Nelson’s nature photography.
Black Hills Film Festival organizer Chris Van Ness will share information about their upcoming film festival in late August, early September. Their selections bring films that have connections with our region.
