Volleyball season begins

Hill City High School Volleyball team kicked off its season Aug. 24 against Custer.
“We are looking forward to another opportunity to play a regular season and positively represent our school and community through volleyball,” said  coach Lindsy Wathen. The team has 26 girls, which is similar to previous years.
Wathen thinks the region and conference will keep the team on its toes but that the team’s  “toughest competition will be on the road at our tournaments in Sioux Falls, Alliance (Neb.) and Mellette.”
Several junior and senior starters are returning to the varsity teams but a few younger classmen will also play big roles.
Last year the team had an overall  record of 26-5 and a league record of 10-1.
